The format in which you have given the ingredients and the preparation is short and sweet...

Good stuff dude. But you know that rather than cook myself, I'd let others do the honors and then invite myself over :) But seriously, this format makes it sound so simple, that even I should try it sometime.

Thanks a lot. We used to frequent a restuarant which used to specialize in this but it went out of business.

Is that why it went out of business? :)

Here is classical Jeera Aloo recipe from north India. We should not use mustard seeds as it will mask the flavour of jeera.

Aloo Jeera (microwave)

Ingredients peeled unboiled potatoes - 5 big
jeera - 2 tbsp
chilli powder - 1 tbsp
turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
garam masala powder - 1 tsp
oil - 2 tbsp of butter
finely chopped green onion/ corionder leaves
salt to taste

Method
Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin long strips.
Add salt and transfer to a microwave safe bowl.
Dry roast jeera on a pan ( Important) for about 30 seconds just, so that they turn slightly brownish.
Add chilli powder, jeera, turmeric and garam masala powder to the potato strips.
Add 1 tbsp oil, toss well and leave for a couple of minutes.

Micorwave the mixture at max.temp for atleast 4 minutes.
Leave for 2 minutes and microwave again for another 4 mins.
Now the Aloo Jeera is ready to serve.
You can add one more tbsp of oil, finely chopped green onion stems/coriander leaves just before serving and toss the mixture well.
The flavour will get retained.
It can be served with rice, rotis or you can just snack with puris.

Excellent & simple.
